Blogging is simply a task that anyone can start if there is motivation and if there is the urge to want to do such a thing. When I say that anyone can become a blogger, I do mean it and that’s how this blog here came to be. I wanted to become a blogger because…well, I just wanted to keep hip with the current age. Of course there is money to be made, but that’s not really the whole point of blogging. Since I’ve started this blog almost 2 months ago, I realized that blogging is something fun and can be considered a hobby. Affiliate marketing is a different story now because there is money TO BE made in this field. You can basically say there are a lot of untapped money out there on the Internet waiting for affiliate marketers to take advantage of.

With that said, let me introduce you guys to an Affiliate Marketer, Ian Lee.

founder-ian.jpgIan Lee is the man behind this blog and he is also the founder of the Affiliate Marketers Alliance. Most of you probably haven’t heard of this group because it is based in Canada, but it is the biggest event there, so someone like John Chow would know about it. He received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the University of British Columbia and now resides in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Ian began working and organizing this networking event in 2004, but he has been in the Internet Marketing business since mid-1990s, so he has been around this type of business for a while now.

This man works wonders in the marketing business and people trust him because he is experienced. Ian has gained clients from Team Canada pastry chefs to the Canadian Federal Government. He has consulted as an Affiliate Manager for PartnerCentric, Inc, managing Digital River, before he was responsible for ROI (return on investment) analysis. Ian now works as the Director of Marketing & Advertising for HealthCastle.com, a nutrition community run by Dietitians on the Internet. Ian is currently the Director of Marketing & Advertising for HealthCastle.com, the most comprehensive nutrition community run by Registered Dietitians on the Internet.

Ian Lee’s Recent Public Speaking Events:

  • 2007 Affiliate Marketers Alliance - Opening Remarks
  • 2007 Affiliate Summit West - “How Ad Serving Technology Can Maximize Revenue”
  • 2007 Coffee Talk interview with James Martell - “How to Successfully Manage and Grow your Email List”
  • 2006 Affiliate Marketers Alliance - Opening Remarks
  • 2005 Affiliate Summit - Moderator on Panel entitled “The Art of the Data Feed”
  • 2005 Affiliate Markters Alliance - Opening Remarks

What would Ian be able to provide?

What more is there to say? With Ian’s help, you guys can finally start making money online or if you wish, blogging. If you reside in Canada and live fairly close to the events that Ian hosts, I suggest you guys checking it out. This type of events gather up people from all over and these people are “BIG”…meaning you would probably meet your Inspiration. Many of you guys are probably thinking that Ian isn’t going to be much help since he’s a real life Affiliate Marketer doing things in reality more than on the net. Well, you guys are wrong. Although I do admit that he hasn’t posted in almost 2 weeks (probably holidays), you guys could check out his archived posts either teaching you how to make some money or teaching you how not to lose it.

Here’s a few that are worth reading:

Have you heard enough about this guy already? Well then you better subscribe to his RSS and await his return.

Become A Designer, Enjoy The Dream

Everything, Money Making 3 Comments »

designer-header-420-x-280.png

Many of you still wish to make money online, but it seems like it’s difficult for some of us including me. In the blogosphere, making money is a 50/50 chance thing where you either pass or fail. There are some that get in between once in a while, but end up passing or failing just like the others. It wasn’t until this past year that blogging was basically a way to express a person’s mind, but now it seems like everyone wants to become a blogger. The main objective of that is just to enjoy financial freedom and get the easy way out. Getting the easy way out is not always that simple for some of us. Learning and studying all the concepts is what makes a person successful, but even then you might not enjoy the dream of financial freedom through making money online.

If blogging is not working for you, then maybe you should take other steps that would give you some sort of financial freedom. Go get your education and major in something that people will want to hire you for. The job I’m talking about is becoming a designer.

I know that all of you are probably wondering how a designer could make money, but if you think about it, the word “designer” is just a broad topic that consists of many other sub-topics under it. These range from clothing designer to house designers, but it can also be art. Of “art” is a whole different thing to some of you, but if you think about it, to become a designer needs some sort of artistic skill and to become a artist, one must know some designing skills too. Although this post could be elaborated longer, I’m going to focus on web designing.

designer-web-200-x-98.jpg Web designing takes a lot of work and it’s not a easy task that people can just accomplish in a blink of the eye. With proper education, a person might think they’re ready, but these type of skills don’t really come from education. Of course you do need a degree in this field if you want to succeed, but the main thing is natural artistic skills. Without the natural ability to design something with art, it will be difficult to complete any type of task. Believe me, I’ve experienced this field because I used to be an amateur artist, but I never focused on it and therefore I gave up. Web designing is a lot easier than the type of work Picasso used to do, but it still takes a great mind to come up with something different. People pay for what is different.

designer-money-132-x-116.jpg

As soon as you get into the web designing business, it’ll probably take some time before people come to you for jobs. If I were a new designer, I would probably sponsor away a few free designs to get myself publicized first before I start promoting the design services. Web designing services do not come cheap and that usually turns away lower income people or people that don’t want to fork out that much money. The problem there is that a designer needs to earn a living from the services and even though I do agree that prices should be lower, the web designing industry is pretty much up there in price-wise. There will always be jobs for a web designer because the Internet is going to stay forever. As years go by, people invent new techniques and strategies to make things even better than it already is. With so much increase in users, companies, stores, and huge corporations are starting to seek web designers to create an online site.

A good example of a very successful web designer or should I say team is Nate Whitehill and his group at Unique Blog Designs. Although I’ve posted about Unique Blog Designs before, I think people might have considered it a post that is suppose to “slam” Nate and his crew. Well, whatever you guys think of it, I’m still going to say that UBD is one expensive ass design service site (LOL!). Judging by the high costs, Nate and his team is making it big and who knows, they might become millionaires after huge corporations start purchasing the services.

So before you think about blogging for money, you should consider becoming a web designer instead. The demand for web designing services is so much higher than selling an ad spot on your current blog. Do anyone disagree with me here?

Bloggin-Ads - Weekly Review 12/14/07 to 12/28/07

weekly-review-420-x-280.jpg

Wow, it’s been another 2 weeks and I do apologize that I did not post my weekly review last week. With that said, this weekly review is going to be longer than the other ones because I want to answer some questions you guys have been asking me through the blog and through e-mail.

A lot of people are still wondering how I’m getting so much subscribers on my RSS count. Well, the answer is simple and it is “NEVER GIVE UP”. I was about to give up on my blog about a week ago when I noticed that my RSS count was starting to drop and no one cared to comment. I asked my wife and my friend and well, I was told not to give up and I’m glad I did not. I hope this teaches some of you a lesson if you wanted to sell your blog because you WILL regret.

The following links is from all the posts that I made in the last 2 weeks, so in case you guys have missed it, it is just below:

Half a month has past since my 2nd contest and the ad spots are going to expire at the end of the month, so there are ad spots available for sale. So far I’ve sold 4 125×125 spots and there are 2 more available, but if there’s a higher demand, I might add 2 more. The current pricing for a 125×125 ad spot is $10/month, but if you purchase 2 months, I’ll make it $15 for both. If you’re not interested in a 125×125 ad spot or if you don’t have money to purchase one, I do offer links in my “featured blogs” section. A link in this section is $1/week trial and $2/week after. Getting any type of ad spot on my blog is going to receive a lot of exposure because as you can tell, my blog is getting bigger (not to brag).

*I want to make money because I don’t have any to pay off hosting…*

As far as my theme for this blog, I’m deciding to change it, but I don’t have money to pay up. I’m actually looking for anyone that wishes to sponsor me a new theme that includes a header section and footer section. In return, the designer will receive a PERMANENT link in my “Blog Pals” section and a full-detailed review. If you’re a designer and you’re interested, please contact me.

To end this post, I would also like to tell you guys that I may have a contest coming in a week or two, so stay tuned :)
Update: I’ve also added a forum section to my blog, so take a look :)

Are Short Posts Better Than Longer Posts

Blogging, Education & Training, Everything 6 Comments »

short-header-420-x-237.jpg

Blogging is something that a lot of us are beginning to do now. Why some of us do it is another question. Some of us use blogging to provide great content, while others use blogging to earn a living. When it comes to actually posting about content, it really makes us wonder if we should post shorter posts or type up something longer. What type of posts do you happen to do? Long or short?

Of course there are many different ways to approach this topic, but I’m going to split it into 2 sections and focus it on my own opinion and what I’ve been seeing around the blogosphere.

short-short-165-x-130.jpgShort Posts

When you’re a blogger, you would like to blog about many different things but still try to keep on topic. Shorter posts tend to always get to a point and that is always a good thing because the reader does not have to drag on. The main problem though with shorter posts is that it never tends to entertain the reader and that means -1 on your RSS subscribers count.

Why you shouldn’t post short posts

There are many reasons why a blogger shouldn’t make short posts and here are my opinionated reasons based on the current blogosphere:

  1. Short posts cause more frequent posts
  2. Short posts provides more than enough reading for a viewer, which can end bad depending on the person
  3. Short posts = TIME!

short-long-165-x-155.jpgLong Posts

Providing longer posts to readers is usually the way to go. Readers tend to read posts on a certain blog when the posts provide valuable content. During certain posts, I’m sure you may assume that the readers understand what you’re trying to say, but in reality, there’s a huge question mark on top of their head. Longer posts will allow the reader to find the necessary information through the same post and not by searching Google.

Why you shouldn’t post long posts

Long posts might be good, but no matter what a blogger does, there are always problems. Listed below are a few reasons why longer posts are unwanted.

  1. Long posts drag on
  2. Long posts = Time, but only a few times a week if you want to post less
  3. Long posts provides too much details when it is not needed

What type of posts does Bloggin-Ads do?

What I do here with Bloggin-Ads is try to provide a little bit of both posting techniques. To my experience, having a variety brings more viewers to a blog. As you can see with this post, I can pretty much make it longer, but I choose not to because on some posts…getting to the point matters the most. How do you type up your blog posts?

From Italian Recipes To Not John Chow, We Must Check It Out

I know I know, I admit that I haven’t been posting as much or just posting no content lately and I have no one to blame but myself. Well, lets get to the point and take a look at today’s review on 2 very unique blogs. I mean, Bloggin-Ads is no John Chow, we actually review for free and free is always good right?

italian-dolci-346-x-46.png

The only reason that this review post consists of 2 different blogs is because I can’t read Italian. Although I can’t read any of the text on the blog, I would still want you guys to check it out and possibly use a translator.

Why use a translator you ask? This blog simply amazing for anyone that wants to learn how to cook Italian recipes. There are a lot of blogs out there that discusses about food, but there aren’t much that discuss Italian food recipes. Upon receiving a request to review this blog, I just had to show my wife because my wife loves cooking. I don’t know why, but hey…a man has to eat.

*UPDATE* - BlogDolci is now in English!

italian-tiramisu-132-x-99.jpgWith simple translation of the recipes, you’ll be able to make many type of desserts. With over 300 recipes of cakes, cookies, etc, I’m able to realize why people visit these type of blogs. What is so great is that the sections are organized very well too allowing viewers to navigate the site with no problems unless of course you don’t understand the language.

Here’s a sneak at the sections BlogDolci provides:

I must also add on that I love the theme! It really works with this recipes site, so check them out.

italian-john-350-x-55.png

Well, the header of this section says it all. The owner of this following blog is not John Chow and he made that clear with his domain, http://www.notjohnchow.com/.

Who is this not John Chow guy? - About Page

The owner of this blog may not be a John Chow, but his name really is John, so that could work. Alike the evil John Chow’s goal, this John would also like to make money online and also teach it back to the community. Growing up in the northern suburbs of Detroit, John was the youngest of 5 living in a middle class family. Like any person striving to learn, he attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in “Advertising” and a MBA in “Strategic Planning” from Davenport University.

John has coached youth soccer for 12 years and loves to hike, camp, launch model rockets, take photographs, write, play chess, travel, build sand castles, carve pumpkins (with power tools!), read, fight prostate cancer, yell at the TV with my wife (darn politicians!), and more.

With all that said, John is still no John Chow. One evil man is enough :)
What’s so good about the “Not” John Chow anyways?

italian-dead-250-x-250.gifI do admit that this John basically recaps same type of information that have been posted on other blogs, but one really caught my attention. Now with that said, I’m said to say that the evil John Chow is dead. Although he shares same content as bigger blogs, every blog should be given a chance because same content is usually based on opinion and all opinions could result in different thoughts.

If you’re interested in Italian recipes, then subscribe to BlogDolci, but if you hate John Chow, then subscribe to the “not” John Chow here.
