Are Short Posts Better Than Longer Posts

Blogging is something that a lot of us are beginning to do now. Why some of us do it is another question. Some of us use blogging to provide great content, while others use blogging to earn a living. When it comes to actually posting about content, it really makes us wonder if we should post shorter posts or type up something longer. What type of posts do you happen to do? Long or short?

Of course there are many different ways to approach this topic, but I’m going to split it into 2 sections and focus it on my own opinion and what I’ve been seeing around the blogosphere.

When you’re a blogger, you would like to blog about many different things but still try to keep on topic. Shorter posts tend to always get to a point and that is always a good thing because the reader does not have to drag on. The main problem though with shorter posts is that it never tends to entertain the reader and that means -1 on your RSS subscribers count.

Why you shouldn’t post short posts

There are many reasons why a blogger shouldn’t make short posts and here are my opinionated reasons based on the current blogosphere:

  1. Short posts cause more frequent posts
  2. Short posts provides more than enough reading for a viewer, which can end bad depending on the person
  3. Short posts = TIME!

Providing longer posts to readers is usually the way to go. Readers tend to read posts on a certain blog when the posts provide valuable content. During certain posts, I’m sure you may assume that the readers understand what you’re trying to say, but in reality, there’s a huge question mark on top of their head. Longer posts will allow the reader to find the necessary information through the same post and not by searching Google.

Why you shouldn’t post long posts

Long posts might be good, but no matter what a blogger does, there are always problems. Listed below are a few reasons why longer posts are unwanted.

  1. Long posts drag on
  2. Long posts = Time, but only a few times a week if you want to post less
  3. Long posts provides too much details when it is not needed

What type of posts does Bloggin-Ads do?

What I do here with Bloggin-Ads is try to provide a little bit of both posting techniques. To my experience, having a variety brings more viewers to a blog. As you can see with this post, I can pretty much make it longer, but I choose not to because on some posts…getting to the point matters the most. How do you type up your blog posts?

%title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>, %title%'); ?>

I let the topic I’m posting about dictate the length. If I’m just posting my opinion, I guess it tends to be a shorter post. When I post a subject that requires research, I try to make it complete so that my readers don’t have to go somewhere else for more information.

Short and sweet, unless you have something real interesting to say.

I tend to err on the longer side though, but it hasn’t affected my reader base… too much :)

If my post is a long one, I’ll try stripping some points unnecessary and add pics. If they’re short posts, I’ll make sure every word delivers valuable information.

Writing a short post or a long post depends upon the type of content you post!.

If you run a update blog,it can/should be short posts. If you run some MAKE MONEY ONLINE or TIPS/TRICKS blog, the posts should necessarily be long!.

The choice should be made by blogger and as far as the readers are happy with the content, blogger can make changes to his style-length of posts!!!.

My last blog post is..Google gets bored with it’s favicon:changes it !.
