Really interesting post.
As Ashley says, it’s important to have an external hard drive (I bought it yesterday, it’s only 160 GB, but is actually ok for me) to protect our files, photos, etc from internet virus.
I don’t really agree with her about the use of AVG Antivirus: some friends of mine used it and they found it…a better way to get virus and similar problems.
But they are opinions Personally, I have Norton 2008 as antivirus and I found it very useful and efficient.
I’ve never heard Google Docs, so I have to thank Ashley; I’ll have a look to it.
Other absolutely important thing: the seat!
The computer seat has to be in the right position near the pc station: not too far, not nearest from it, just in a well balanced position: so in this way we can preserve our shoulders and back

I learned the hard way to have at least another backup in addition to a external hard drive. I hooked my external hard drive and it started smoking..I lost everything i had, bad thing was that was the only copy.

And get a good quality external hard drive, soo true the saying you get what you pay for.

Ashley,this post definitely remains among my “All time best stories”.

Wow!.Such wonderful masterpiece tips…..really helpful!!.

With time spent on blogging taking main stage,people tend to forget these basic things to protect their content.That can certainly lead to a disaster if your OS gets crashed..there is a disastrous waste of effort!.

And health should be primary concern…if there’s no good health,there’s no You and no blogging!!.

This is a very informative blog and a must to follow not just for bloggers but for those who had been depending most of their works in the computer. I am actually planning to buy an external hard drive. It won’t just provide a back-up of my files, it would also be more convenient in traveling since you could use bring with you all your important files anywhere and open it in another computer.

Safety of computer files should really be an utmost consideration so I highly recommend this blog post to everyone. Thanks for the person who contributed this post.
