Stressing occurs almost all the time and it doesn’t matter who you are because you still stress under certain circumstances. If you’re a blog owner, you have probably stressed before or you’re probably still stressing. Blogging seems like a cinch when you’re just watching from the end line, but after you become a blogger, you probably realize that it isn’t as easy as it seemed. Although it may not be as easy, I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers stressing over keeping the blog alive and I totally understand, but blogging doesn’t have to be stressful at all.
I’m going to start in the beginning to discuss how stressing occurs from the beginning of blogging to the end. As soon as you put down your foot to purchase that domain of yours or sign up for that blogspot account, you have made the decision to start your blogging journey.
Blogging consists of a few simple key points that even the smallest blogger would have to follow the following minimum requirements:
- Design - Come up with something that you and your visitors like to see. Make sure you ask your readers if they would want anything changed.
- Content - Start planning posts/articles to publish for all to see. A reader stays when there is content.
- Dedication - Keep things consistent and don’t slack.
Now you’re probably wondering why I only listed 3 points when there are much more than that. The answer to that is because keeping things simple will let you slide out of the stress causing virus. To tell you the truth, the points above are actually the most difficult things to accomplish, but there’s hope. The only reason why the tasks are difficult and stressful is because you’re thinking too much of the outcome.
The reasons for why blogging causes stress is almost something that you can not get rid of, but first lets see what those reasons are.
- Readership - RSS subscribers seem to be a huge fuss these days and to some bloggers, if this number does raise, it is almost like the end of the world.
- Traffic - Google Analytics, Sitemeter, Awstats (in your Cpanel). All those things tell you how much traffic you’re getting because sometimes RSS subscribers don’t get you unique traffic.
- Comments - Just read my post about “Losing Comments Will Not Kill You“
- Ranking - If you’re not ranked high in rankings such as Alexa, Technorati, and 45n5’s Top 100, it seems like you’re just a passerby as people see your blog.
- Popularity - The blogosphere receives over 10,000 new blogs a day, so gaining popularity is quite hard. Even bloggers like Darren Rowse and John Chow don’t stand out to bloggers in the other part of the blogosphere.
- Money - I put this little section below the rest of the list is because I dislike money making blogs with a passion. The MMO niche is overcrowded, so that’s probably why you’re still not making money.
A little thought to why you’re stressing about the above list would make you realize that it’s totally unnecessary. Who cares if you’re not getting a high RSS count, a lot traffic, hundreds of comments, a high rank in Alexa, a lot of popularity, and even a lot of money. Everything has been put there by your own work. Don’t stress over these type of things because it will make you miserable when you blog. Your readers will know how miserable you are by reading the tone in your posts.
Haven’t you ever heard from a teacher, friend, or family member that if you think too much, you end up failing at what you’re trying to accomplish. That’s exactly how blogging is because if you think too much about what will happen if you do this or what will happen if you do that, you’re just going to stress your heart out.
My personal experience to this is that I’ve been stressing a lot about gaining traffic, high Alexa ranks, and a lot of comments. When I think back to it (only a week ago
), I want to slap myself across the face because I was totally stupid to care about all of that. Sure I want to become a bigger more noticeable blog, but I still need to work on things to get there. By typing these shorter, more casual posts, I’ve been able to stress a lot less.
You must work at blogging as if you’re doing your homework. You can’t expect to Ace a class without studying or practice and that is exactly why you need to stress less and work on blogging.
Do you stress over blogging?

I won’t feel stress because blogging is my passion. We need to fine tune in the first place-a lot of bloggers put so much hope into blogging because they want to make money online but in reality it is not an easy because it really takes time even John Chow needs to take 1 year to build up his blog.If we really want to make money from blogging, there are few important things that we require:
1)Passion
2)Patient
3)Never give up
4)Keep on learning
5)Read useful blogs every day
6)Do research before you post
7)Market your blog
8)Involve in social network
9)Submit article to ezine/helium
10)Participate paid per post program
I just simplify it into ten points,i am sure there are many more .

I’ll tell you what stresses me out the most. Not being able to post every day. Sometimes I get busy and forget or simply don’t have time. Other than that being my biggest stress factor, I do experience stress when I can’t think of anything to write about.
Cheers Mike!

You nailed it Mike! It’s been getting a bit stressful for me lately and your post just made me stop and think for a second about why I’m getting stressed at the first place..
Adding something, I also believe that the more stressful it becomes for a blogger, he’s more likely to forfeit the whole thing..
Cheers!

I like that a successful blog needs time. (Unless if you are some high profile person) With my blog, it didn’t go anywhere in the first month but soon became popular after 3 months.
My last blog post is..Free Kaspersky Internet Security Suite!
What stresses me everyday is not being able to post everyday. I have so much school work and am working on other sites and making money everyday. I see you do a good job at it, keep it up
I guess it really comes down to what your motivation is for having the blog in the first place. If it is money making, then there is always stress that is going to be related to it. You are either not making any money or not making enough money. But if it is a fun place where you express your feelings, thoughts, and daily dairy, then there should never be any stress at all!
Very nice write up..I have felt some of those stresses as I am pretty new to Blogging. Thanks for the pointers.

I’m always stressing about my blogging. Then again, I run more than one blog, and trying to keep them all up to date, and switching topics from one the next can get pretty stressful.
However, I’ve got to get myself to where I don’t think about all the numbers so much. I’ve never really cared about my Alexa rank. My PR rank gets to me sometimes, but it’s my RSS subscribers that truly bothers me. I’ve got to get over that. When I first started blogging, I did it for me. I’ve got to get back to that mindset.
Thanks for this awesome post, Mike. I needed to read something like this.

Nice post Mike.
It can be stressful. I agree with those above, posting everyday can be a challenge. I was for a while but then I have been working on other things and there does not seem to be enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done.

Yeah blogging can be stressful…but only if u want it to be!.If you just take it casually not giving it too much importance…it will be a lot fine.
But if u hope to be a problogger,u need to take all the hits in the face and still be in the hunt. For probloggers, life is stressful in the beginning and continues to be thereafter too.You need to consistently prove you are the best…that’s very difficult!.
It’s your character which decides your effort…it’s about attitude!.Keep it strong!!!.
