Commenting on blogs is a huge factor to keep a blog alive. Of course some of you may think that it’s not as valuable as having content, but have you ever put into consideration that you may be wrong? If you guys have been reading blogs during November of 2007, you would notice that blogs were bringing up the topic of “Comments” on blogs and how it is the main essential to keeping things going. It wasn’t until Mr. Darren Rowse (ProBlogger.net) posted about the power of commenting on blogs that made people realize what it can do to a blog of any size. I also want to bring up that blog owners are starting to take out that stupid “rel=nofollow” crap from comments and replacing it with “dofollow“, which means that your comments do end up in the search engine systems and are considered a type of linkback or backlink. If you want to know more about this, Randa Clay was the one that started this fiasco and it is quite successful IMO. If you look at my right sidebar, you would notice that I’m for the movement. Anyways, going back on topic here, I want you guys to take another look at one of Darren’s post with 11 tips that will get your comments noticed. Why get your comments noticed do you ask? You’ll soon find out below.
Background - Caroline’s About Page
Caroline Middlebrook is a 35 year old software developer living in the UK.
On Wednesday August 22, 2007, this fine woman handed in her resignation letter for her job as a software developer based in the UK. She not only decided to quit her job on such short notice, but also decided to end her 9-5 life for good. Well what does that mean? It means that she is now unemployed or should I say self-employed (from this blog), which means that she will need to come up with the solution to putting food on the table.
Caroline Middlebrook is one of those bloggers that wish to let the viewers guess about her or should I say “read” her in various posts because she has such minimal information published on her about page, so I took a whack at it and hope you guys know a bit more about her. As if you guys don’t know anything about her already
What started the stir?
Many of us bloggers did not know of Caroline before November 4th, 2007, but some of you may know her through the comments that she leaves on blogs like ProBlogger, Entrepreneurs Journey, Search Engine Guide, etc. Well, what really happened on November 4th that gave Caroline’s blog such a huge boost? Darren Rowse posted about Caroline after realizing that she leaves a lot of un-meaningless comments on blogs, which brings her huge amounts of traffic. Viewers of these big blogs clicks on Caroline’s name on the comment because they wonder who is the person writing all those insightful comments. In return, she is gaining so much more.
Although ProBlogger boasts about an average of 33,000 readers a day to see the post, many of the blogs that Caroline linked to started getting the picture of what commenting does. Yaro Starak of Entrepreneur’s journey also posted about her and so did many others after realizing that comments is the key to success, which Caroline brought forth because she is now on top of the commenting pyramid.
The Twitter Guide Phenomenal
What the heck is a Twitter? To sum this topic up with my own knowledge, I’m Caroline is going to introduce to you what Twittering is.
Twittering is basically the untapped internet communication site that can bring in huge amounts of traffic to a blog. It’s suppose to be used for staying in touch with friends and family no matter where you are or what you’re doing. By just submitting a limit of 140 characters into the “What are you doing?” box, you are able to shout out your message to the people that are following your messages.
Because Caroline is the professional one on this topic, I’m going to end it there and let you guys read her guide yourself. I would also like to mention that because of this guide, she received so much links from huge blogs in the blogosphere and made people realize what Twittering can do.
What else does Caroline offer?
It’s about time I wrap up this review because I can go on forever with what Caroline’s blog provides, but instead, I’m going to just link you guys to a few of her posts.

Due to the length of this review, I’m unable to include the interview here, but you guys could read it at the following link or download it below:

I try to comment and let people know why I liked an article or a photo, but people do not reciprocate. Sharing and communication should be some of the purpose of the vast possibilities online, but if you are the small guy and trying to learn it seems many frown upon you, or you are not part of “the clan” what advice would you give?
Sue » The best way to go is to join a few blog forums. I don’t have any URLs remembered, but you can search Google for “blog forums”. You should also check out forums.digitalpoint.com . I had to learn this way too because when you start out, you may or may not have blog friends in your group (which i didn’t), so meeting new people is a must. Hope that helped

Hey Mike,
Your method of marketing your blog is very unique. Developing relationships is key and I think you’re doing that exceptionally well by doing site reviews and interviews. Nice work.

Not taking anything from the content but the comments are what really bring a posting/blog alive… without comments what do you really have??
Without comments, you blog’s traffic means nothing. When your comment numbers increases that’s when you know when you are on the right track!
Wow, what a difference a few months and some great posts can make!
Commenting is definitely essential to the growth and of a blog. At times, visitors to a blog leave comments in response to other visitors, not to the post.
Creating posts that will elicit comments and establishing regular traffic that is interested in those posts requires a lot of effort.
Through commenting, it appears that Caroline has been able to accomplish a lot more than leaving her thoughts.
Comment is one of the way to interact with your readers and that make them feel comfortable reading your blog and it does bring nice traffic to your blog.
Yes, she definately is a succes story. She has also released an e-book about building Wordpress niche sites, which is a very good idea.
I am just coming in from Caroline’s blog, she made me laugh when she mentioned you were all over her blog!
I guess this works, then, seeing your number of RSS readers. I am trying to leave lots of comments on blogs too, I am trying to build my own community with the help of Facebook, Stumble, Digg…but it is very time consuming!
@Gyutae - Thanks man, I appreciate it
