There are bloggers that love to make money by posting valued content and there are some that just publish posts for fun. Publishing fun posts are usually considered a person’s ramblings because there isn’t much in mind, but the information in that particular post.
What is the exact meaning of Rambling?
- Definition: to talk or write in a discursive, aimless way
Rambling is simply a way for a blogger to express his or her mind, but it is made into a post for all to see and understand. If you can see on my blog, I ramble every other day of the week to keep readers entertained. Rambling brings up any category of the blogging world into a post, but not all rambling posts are successful.
How can I ramble successfully?
A rambling post doesn’t mean you can just blog about anything and type clueless information. The content must include some type of value and information that attracts the reader. If you take a look at my rambling posts here, you can tell that I provide detailed information to the reader and not something like, “I’m tired today” or something similar.
Why doesn’t any one like my rambling posts?
Well, here’s a point where I can’t really help you at. Certain blogs tend to blog ramblings a least once a week, but receives soooo much comments and controversies when a smaller blog receives nothing. What readers don’t understand is smaller less fortunate blogs also provide great information, but it is usually missed due to lack of ranking.
What is the point?
As a blogger, just remember that if you want to be successful, you must provide content, but once you hit it big, it won’t matter what kind of crap you post about. Just because some of us blog, doesn’t mean we’re a ProBlogger, Shoemoney, or John Chow.
nice post.. keep up the work.. maybe you can offer free reviews for 5 comments on your site.. I ran a promo like that and it became a hub for conversation.
i actually pulled John Chow from my RSS feeds and stopped reading his blog because it was so full of BS and “ramblings”.. I also became offended at the number of advertisements and affiliates he tries to ram up my ass every time i go to his site..
I tend to treat my readers the way i like to be treated - I (try) to provide good (ON TOPIC) content, i have no ads, and any affiliate links are clearly labeled.. it is also in my charter: NO RAMBLINGS, no posts about my favorite restaurants or airport toilets!

@Randy - Those are VERY strong words there. The point of my post wasn’t to bash John Chow, but to make a point. I guess everyone has their own opinions

Not a ‘bash’.. just more of a “he’s not for me” comment.. Even I have to admit, he does what he does (making money) very well. Mr. C. just tends to ramble off-topic too much and tries to “sell” me too many things.. I guess i’ve just ‘grown out’ of his blog.. Dont worry, he wont miss me ..
I Loove to ramble. I have learn that although you have to write for your reader in mind, your blog is still your blog.
If I don’t have the freedom to ramble even on my own blog, it’s not fun anymore.

From time to time I will completely ramble off topic and sometimes it is either a rant or a vent. I have one in draft right now about gas mileage that I am not sure that I want to post or not.
Frankly I like off topic posts where the author throws his or her underbelly into the ring. It give me a better understanding of who they really are. Just my 2 cents.

Rambling is good, but I think it depends on what type of blog you have. Mine’s a whole mixture of lots of different topics, and it’s title the ramblings…so I think I need to do a little rambling once in a while.

Yes, I agree. Rambling post once in a while can make your blog more interesting especially your blog where 90% of the post are reviews.

I think those that caught the blog wave early and got very successful can basically get away with rambling or whatever.
But those who started their blogs within the last year or two can’t get away with it, since blogs are like a dime a dozen, one has to be really creative to hold people’s attention.
Yes but surely if it is your own blog, you have the right to ramble as much as you want to. Nobody should tell you what you should write from what you shouldn’t IMHO
