What exactly is swag do you ask? It is basically the must-have products that celebrities are getting, giving, and using. In the blogosphere, us bloggers also have celebrities and they know who they are. They receive free swag just like any celebrity we see on television. Don’t you want free swag yourself?
Most new blogs don’t receive as much attention as blogs that have been opened for weeks or months. Receiving the attention is usually hard to acquire, but some blogs choose to start a promotions and contests to boost things up. These type of promotions range anywhere from free ad spaces, reviews, prizes, and even hard cold cash. Since the blogosphere is growing at huge rapid speeds, tracking these type of promotions and contests are difficult, so some bloggers decided to open up a place where viewers become familiar with what the latest promotions and contests are.
I know most of you bloggers or readers tend to stick by a few blogs and not view others. Other blogs might have content, but many of you probably won’t give them a chance because you’re a regular on John Chow or ShoeMoney. Free swag would definitely gain some attention as everyone wants something for no cost at all.
What do I have to do?
The only thing that these contests and promotions ask in return is usually posted on the contest itself. I can tell from experience that most contests requires a subscription to the RSS feed, a link back to the blog, and even a post to get backlinks. These aren’t hard tasks to accomplish, but many bloggers don’t give it a chance because it’s almost like gambling.
You SNOOZE you LOSE!
You’re WRONG!!! Blog contests is not gambling because it is free. You can think of it as taking a risk in life, but having nothing to lose except maybe 5-20minutes of your time. If you snooze on these contests, you’re basically missing out on a chance to get some swag. I can prove this to you because my first contest didn’t even give away all the prizes because people snoozed away. With that said, make sure you actually commit to blog contests if you wish to gain something for free.
