The only thing about having too many categories is that it may start to hog up space. I had that problem prior to the change.

Categories widget is definitely a mus have, usually on the sidebar, in my opinion there should be more than 10 categories a blogger should focus on.

Hi Mike - I used to have a ridiculous amount of categories on my blog - now I’ve narrowed it down to seven. I also have links to other pages, but they’re not blog pages.

Categories are very important. If I visit a site for the first time, one of the first thing I look for is the list of categories just to orientate myself as what is happening on the site. There is only one thing I go to before this and that is the about page, I like to know just who it is behind the content I am reading.
