Here in California or Los Angeles to be exact, there are accomdation/housing areas for the homeless too. I've actually serviced at a homeless shelter once. I wouldn't say it is the best place to be at, but it felt good to help out.

I mention HK because it is true and it has been proven. All the HK stars are coming from Cananda now, but they were either born in HK or their parents are.

Things do cost more when you're poor, but if some money is saved, it would do wonders. It is hard to dig out of a hole, but wouldn't it be worth it? Just my opinion.

Depends on a where abouts which country you are homeless. Here in New Zealand, we are fortunate to have Government and private help to provide emergency accommodation/housing. Though rents tend to be a significant portion of costs, and some people do end up on the streets or communal boarding homes, and perhaps personal choices become more limited...

"I don’t mention Hong Kong because immigrants from Hong Kong usually move to Canada. "

Huh. Why is that, you think? I know it's easier to get in here (I'm Canadian) and that there ar ehuge Asian comminuties in the bigger areas, but why from HK specifically? Just curious. :)

"Even at $250 a week, a homeless person should be able to rent a small room and buy some decent food, but why do they continue to stay on the streets?"
Maybe they want to. :) No home or car means less expenses. and usually when you're that poor things actually cost more. And many of the well-educated people noted above wind up homeless not because of lack of money, but too much debt that their money can't cover. It also takes an overwhleming amount to try and dig yourself out of the hole.
