I have rethought my blog article length along these same lines too. I changed it once I started chasing entrecard credits. I hate clicking and running so would at least read the latest post, but long posts are a pain in the arse and take alot to become interested in.

Short posts on the other hand bang out the information short and sweet. So I figure if I can say in 150 words what I would have said in 500 without the crappy padding then people are more likely to read my posts

I probably won’t publish posts with a few sentences anytime soon. Hopefully I would be able to do that when my blog gets bigger though So far I’ve received a grip of search engine traffic…and it’s not even a day yet

wow, wat a drastic change, very interested in seeing how it will affect ur readership. hope u start stockpiling some posts soon so u can preschedule them for weekend editions and to also have a safety net for when u can’t find time to write because when life happens, it will be nice to not have to worry. i’d like to post more often myself, but right now, i can only find time to post once a day during the week. i think watever frequency u choose, jux keep in consistent so ur readers kno wat to expect.

also, u shouldn’t bound urself to strictly long posts or short posts. jux do watever is natural and watever makes sense for the topic at hand. if it’s jux a quick thought that takes only 100 words, so be it. conversely, if it truly requires 1500 words to get ur point across, then don’t be afraid that we’ll be bored because if it’s that gud, we’ll read it! however, not every post has to be like ur sniper/gattling gunner analogy:p

I think you will start getting more natural search traffic with this direction change.

Although it’s great that you can write long, quality articles but the truth of the matter is, most of us don’t even have time to read a post longer than 200 words unless the title is super interesting.

I think if you can sum articles down to 4-5 sentences instead of 4-5 paragraphs, readers will be able to digest the posts quicker and plus, it’s great for SEO.

Unless you have traffic like John Chow already, it’s gonna be an uphill battle for any blogger who posts less than 1 per day.

Shorter posts are certainly much easier to digest.

[f I were to write something write now and mention the following, “A lot of books are useless and they don’t teach anything”, I could just stop there, but the better decision is to elaborate it and give some details and reasoning.]

If you elaborate too much, gave it too much details and reasoning, commentators might not have anything else further to add. -_-
