Taking Back Quality And Putting In Quantity

Bloggin-Ads, Blogging, Everything Add comments

blog taking

I have mentioned a few times that quality should be preferred over quantity, but a recent chat with Max from Sitehoppin and Zedomax made me realize that quantity may not be the real answer to gaining success. After some thinking off in never never land, I came to the conclusion that he may be right. I have been trying too hard to be someone that I’m not by trying to type up some long “professional” articles, but it hasn’t been much of a success. Shanker Bakshi and Mark mentioned that if I just be myself, I would gain a lot more, so I’m gonna just give it a try :-)
Alright so what is the plan for Bloggin-Ads….I’m actually not too sure where or how to start, but I’m going to just simply plan it out through this post and hopefully achieve something after it.

Well you all know that quality in regards to blogging means that your blog posts are considered something similar to an newspaper article. What this means is that the post you’re doing is probably going to be very long and have a lot of information that is covered. My English professor have told me countless number of times that if I wish to write a successful essay, I must elaborate certain points with details rather than leave something hanging.

For Example: If I were to write something write now and mention the following, “A lot of books are useless and they don’t teach anything”, I could just stop there, but the better decision is to elaborate it and give some details and reasoning.

Now a blog post for me was just like writing a long ass boring essay that I personally won’t even want to read. Why did I do this? I don’t actually know the answer to that, but one of the answers on top of my head is probably because I wanted to look more professional. I just thought that a lot of people would want to read longer posts, but I guess I was wrong because I don’t get to the point as quick (wrong again :-( )

What I’m going to do now is put quantity into my blog to increase the amount of published articles posts here on my blog. Quantity is going to allow more posts to be read by my readers and on coming lookers. There may be negative effects from this, but I’m willing to give it a shot.

The Plan

blog planningThe plan for all this mayhem is going to be pretty simple and I’m going to actually keep you guys updated with what I encounter and what I learn. Think of this as like I’m starting my whole blogging venture from scratch and wipe out the whole 7-8 months I’ve been online. What I hope to do is show you posts that are basically typed without a lot of difficult material (if any to begin with :-P ). Think of this as the new blogging experiment :-)

  • Shorter more frequent posts
  • A least 7 posts a week (1 post each day), but hoping for 2-3 a day
  • Start blogging about blogging itself, but still keep blog reviews and some ramblings
  • No more bullshit or trying to gain fame
  • Lastly, I’m hoping for a small redesign of my current theme so it looks less cluttered

As you can see, the things I want to do may be a bit drastic, but as I mentioned, I’m willing to do all this for all my readers and myself. You may start seeing posts here that are less unique, but more based on myself and what I’ve encountered. Stay connected and follow with what I’m going to start blogging about in the next weeks or months :-)

[Shorter more frequent posts]

Shorter posts are certainly much easier to digest. :D

If you elaborate too much, gave it too much details and reasoning, commentators might not have anything else further to add. -_-

Gambate with your plans yo!

Adding in more personal touch is a plus. ;)

Thanks for the mention Mike.

I think you will start getting more natural search traffic with this direction change.

Although it’s great that you can write long, quality articles but the truth of the matter is, most of us don’t even have time to read a post longer than 200 words unless the title is super interesting.

I think if you can sum articles down to 4-5 sentences instead of 4-5 paragraphs, readers will be able to digest the posts quicker and plus, it’s great for SEO.

Unless you have traffic like John Chow already, it’s gonna be an uphill battle for any blogger who posts less than 1 per day.

wow, wat a drastic change, very interested in seeing how it will affect ur readership. hope u start stockpiling some posts soon so u can preschedule them for weekend editions and to also have a safety net for when u can’t find time to write because when life happens, it will be nice to not have to worry. i’d like to post more often myself, but right now, i can only find time to post once a day during the week. i think watever frequency u choose, jux keep in consistent so ur readers kno wat to expect.

also, u shouldn’t bound urself to strictly long posts or short posts. jux do watever is natural and watever makes sense for the topic at hand. if it’s jux a quick thought that takes only 100 words, so be it. conversely, if it truly requires 1500 words to get ur point across, then don’t be afraid that we’ll be bored because if it’s that gud, we’ll read it! however, not every post has to be like ur sniper/gattling gunner analogy:p

I have rethought my blog article length along these same lines too. I changed it once I started chasing entrecard credits. I hate clicking and running so would at least read the latest post, but long posts are a pain in the arse and take alot to become interested in.

Short posts on the other hand bang out the information short and sweet. So I figure if I can say in 150 words what I would have said in 500 without the crappy padding then people are more likely to read my posts
